Sharon Geuea Jones has practiced law for more than twenty years, mostly for people who don't usually have power on their side. She's a civil rights attorney, and since 2020 she has served on Columbia's Planning and Zoning Commission, where she now chairs the board.
On Planning and Zoning she helped shape the city's short-term rental rules and pushed back on incentives that let small residential lots get bought up and consolidated. Right now she's working to make it legal again to build the smaller, bungalow-style homes our older neighborhoods are already full of. The thread through all of it is pretty simple. The people a decision affects should get a real say before it gets made.
